As a conceited scholar of the Ming Dynasty, Wei Yangsheng believes that since life is short, one should pursue the ultimate sexual pleasure as time allows. Wei Yangsheng encounters Tie Fei the Taoist priest's daughter, Tie Yuxiang, on an occasion. With the former's talent and the latter's beauty, they fall in love at first sight, and Wei Yangsheng is later married into the Tie's family. Yuxiang is elegant and courteous under the influence of her father's faith, though her lack of passion cannot fully satisfy Wei Yangsheng's sexual needs. His disappointment is no less than his affection for her.

Based on the novel by screenwriter Noh Hee-kyeong and the 1996 drama The Most Beautiful Goodbye, this film tells the moving story of an ambitious yet family-oriented woman who has to say goodbye to her family.

The people in In-hees (Bae Chong-ok) life have always taken her for granted. Theres her husband, Jeong-chol (Kim Kap-soo), a doctor who always prioritized his career over family life, her daughter Yeon-soo (Park Ha-seon) and son Jeong-soo (Ryoo Deok-hwan), both of whom have become increasingly harsh towards their mother. And then theres Jeong-chols mother (Kim Ji-yeong), who has Alzheimers disease.

But when they all learn that In-hee, who they thought would always be there for them, has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and doesnt have much time left to live, they come together for the first time to give her the support theyve always denied her.

Directed by Min Gyoo-dong, who is known for his work on "My Lovely Week" (2005) which received the Jury Special Prize at the 13th Icheon Chunsa Film Festival The Most Beautiful Goodbye has received rave reviews from moviegoers and critics for its delicate depiction of family love.

When the television drama series version hit the airwaves in 1996, it instantly became a sensation for its stars meaty performances.

Each summer, Koreans are chilled to the spine by the flood of horror movies that hit the box office. In this years lineup, there is "Ghastly."

It all begins when Ka-hee (Hwang Ji-hyeon), an emotionally and psychologically damaged woman, finds a spirit medium to help her address her troubles. Her inability to give birth to a child had long tortured her, and now she will do anything to cheat that fate.

She ends up burying an orphan in a large traditional pot used to burry kimchi underground during the winter and killing him. What she gains for this merciless act is a child of her own. Ka-hee eventually gives birth to a son she names Bin, but Ka-hee soon meets a brutal death.

The film continues as Bins aunt Sunny (Han Eun-jeong) and her husband Jang-hwan (Park Seong-min) come to live with the now orphaned Bin in his home, which is haunted and where the pot still is. Bin also starts to reveal his violent side.

"Ghastly" is the directorial debut of Ko Suk-jin. The film also features Hyomin, a member of girl group T-ara, who plays the role of Sunnys younger sister.
